Trump Has Ordered Massive Airstrikes On Yemen, Killing Over 30 People, Including Women And Children
The attacks are are most significant military action since Trump’s return to office in January.

More than 30 people, including women and children, have been killed in Yemen after US President Donald Trump ordered a series of airstrikes against the Houthis for targeting Israeli-linked ships in the Red Sea.
The US attacks, which are most significant military action since Trump’s return to office in January, came days after the Houthis announced it is resuming attacks on Israeli ships due to Israel blocking all aid deliveries to Gaza.
Since Israel declared war on Hamas on Oct. 7, the Houthis, an armed group that controls most parts of Yemen, had been launching missile and drone attacks towards Israel and on commercial and military ships in the Red Sea.
The group had been targeting Israeli ships to support Palestinians in Gaza and to pressure Israel to end its genocide, which has killed more than 48,000 Palestinians, mostly women and children.
The group had stopped its attacks when the ceasefire in Gaza began in January but resumed its naval blockade on Tuesday, March 12, after Israel did not lift the blockade on Gaza.
The US then began launching airstrikes on the evening of Saturday, March 15, hitting Yemen's capital, Sanaa, as well as areas in Saada and al-Bayda.
At least 32 people were killed and 101 others were injured as over 40 airstrikes continued into the early hours of Sunday, according to Yemen's ministry of health, Al Jazeera reported.
The ministry of health said that most of those killed were women and children, Al Jazeera reported.
“Today, I have ordered the United States Military to launch decisive and powerful Military action against the Houthi terrorists in Yemen,” Trump wrote on his social media Truth Social. “They have waged an unrelenting campaign of piracy, violence, and terrorism against American, and other, ships, aircraft, and drones.”
He also demanded Iran end its support for the Houthis immediately and not to threaten the American people.
“If you do, BEWARE, because America will hold you fully accountable," he wrote in a post addressed to Iran's leaders.
The Houthis said that it would respond to the US strikes.
The group had said earlier that it would continue its renewed blockade until “the reopenings of the crossings to the Gaza Strip and the entry of aid, food and medicine.”
