Trump Openly Called For Ethnic Cleansing In Gaza During An Interview With Netanyahu

US president Donald Trump openly called for the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians in Gaza during a joint interview with Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Netanyahu had traveled to the US to meet with Trump on Tuesday Feb. 4, becoming the first world leader to meet with Trump after he assumed the presidency.

When asked by a reporter if Palestinians would be able to return to Gaza if they left during the rebuilding of Gaza, Trump said that Palestinians should leave Gaza.

“Why would they want to return?” Trump said. “The place has been hell.”

“I’ve seen every picture from every angle better than if I were there. And nobody could live there,” Trump said while Netanyahu smiled at him.

During the interview, Trump said that Palestinians should be moved out of Gaza to other countries like Egypt and Jordan, adding that he would help Palestinians live somewhere nice, in a place other than Gaza.

“Like some place where they could live and not die because Gaza’s a guarantee that they’re gonna end up dying,” Trump said.

Both Egypt and Jordan have strictly rejected Trump’s plans to expel Palestinians out of Gaza.

In a later joint conference with Netanyahu, Trump said that the US should “own” Gaza and turn it to the “Riviera of the Middle East.”

Hamas officials called Trump’s calls for Palestinians to leave Gaza as “expulsion from their land.”

Israel and Hamas recently agreed on a ceasefire deal which began on Jan, 19, permitting Palestinians to return to their homes after more than 15 months of displacement.

Since Oct. 7, 2023, Israel’s genocide in Gaza has killed more than 47,552 Palestinians, with 18,000 being children.

It forcibly displaced more than 1.9  million people, nearly 90% of the population, multiple times while attacking them and blocking essential aid from reaching them, actions the UN found are consistent with genocide.
