Trump Flew To Israel For The Hostages’ Release And Said On The Plane "The War Is Over" In Gaza
Speaking on board Air Force One on Monday, Oct. 13., Trump told reporters that the “war is over” and that he was confident the ceasefire is going to hold because “people are tired of it.”

US President Donald Trump has arrived in Tel Aviv, Israel, as Hamas released all the living Israeli hostages as part of the first phase of the ceasefire deal.
Speaking on board Air Force One on Monday, Oct. 13., Trump told reporters that the “war is over” and that he was confident the ceasefire is going to hold because “people are tired of it.”
He said that the “Board of Peace” for Gaza will be quickly set up and that work would begin immediately on reconstructing Gaza, which he said looked like a demolition site.
48 Israeli hostages still remained in Gaza before the deal was agreed to, with 20 still believed to be alive.
Israel is also expected to release 250 Palestinians sentenced to life imprisonment, more than 1,700 others arrested after Oct. 7, 2023, and all detained Palestinian women and children.
Trump is expected to address the Israeli parliament, the Knesset, later on Monday and fly to Egypt to lead the Gaza Peace Summit in Sharm El-Sheikh with Egypt’s president Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.
Egypt’s foreign ministry said a "document ending the war in the Gaza Strip" is expected to be signed, according to the BBC.
Leaders from more than 20 countries are also expected to attend, including French President Emmanuel Macron, Qatar’s Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, UK Prime Minister Kier Starmer, German Chancellor Freidrich Merz, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres is also expected to be present, along with representatives from the Arab League and the European Union.
