People In China Turned Trump’s Prayer Circle Into A Huge Meme, Praying With Their Bosses For Better Business
People began recreating the scene in their offices, factories and small businesses — turning the prayer circle into a workplace ritual.
A video of evangelical pastors praying over US president Donald Trump has gone viral in China and turned into a full-blown meme, with Chinese people recreating the moment as a parody about work and corporate life.
The original video was posted on Friday, March 6, by White House deputy chief of staff Dan Scavino on X, where it has gained more than 11 million views.
In the footage, several evangelical pastors gathered around Trump inside the Oval Office, placing their hands on his shoulders in a ritual prayer known as the “laying on of hands”, a form of prayer meant to ask for divine guidance and protection.
The prayer, led by televangelist Greg Laurie and Trump’s spiritual advisor Paula White-Cain, asked God to give Trump strength and protect US troops as the country continues its war on Iran.
“I pray for your grace and your protection over him,” Laurie said in the prayer. “I pray for your grace and protection over our troops.”
But when the video reached Chinese platforms like Douyin and Weibo, people began recreating the scene in their offices, factories and small businesses — turning the prayer circle into a workplace ritual.
In dozens of viral videos, employees surround their boss in the same pose, placing their hands on their managers’ shoulders while “praying” for more sales, bigger bonuses or bigger company profits.
Some versions even added a distinctly Chinese twist, with people holding Buddhist prayer beads or mimicking temple-style chants while standing around their bosses.
