This Turkish TV Anchor Was Interrupted By An Earthquake During A Live Interview And Kept Going
“Earthquake is happening. A very powerful earthquake is happening now,” Bozbeyoğlu said as the studio began shaking around her.

A CNN Türk TV presenter was shocked by the intensity of the earthquake that hit Istanbul, Turkey, interrupting a live interview.
A magnitude 6.2 earthquake struck near Istanbul on Wednesday, April 23, being one of the strongest tremors to hit the city in recent years.
The earthquake injured more than 151 people, with most of the injuries happening due to people panicking and jumping from heights to escape, Al Jazeera reported.
A video of CNN Türk presenter Meltem Bozbeyoğlu feeling the earthquake during a live broadcast, as since gone viral, showing her trying to maintain her calm while the studio rocked.
“Earthquake is happening. A very powerful earthquake is happening now,” Bozbeyoğlu said as the studio began shaking around her.
She then asked someone to check on her mom as the building where the studio is was earthquake resistant but still felt it was very powerful.
“We felt it very strongly Şilan, can you reach my mother? Mom, please reach me on WhatsApp,” she said.
“I'm 32 years old and this is the first time I've experienced such a big earthquake,” she said.
She then apologized to the viewers if she scared them, saying “I was frightened, I apologize if I made you panic.”
The earthquake triggered multiple aftershocks, with the strongest being magnitude 5.9.
Authorities reported that there were no major damages, with only one building collapsing, according to the BBC.
The earthquake raised concerns about Istanbul’s readiness for major seismic events, returning the memory of the February 6, 2023, magnitude 7.8 earthquake that struck Turkey and Syria and killed more than 53,000 People.
