Russia Bombed And Destroyed Ukraine’s “Harry Potter Castle” And The Video Looks Horrifying

On Monday, April 29, a Russian missile strike destroyed a Ukrainian landmark popularly known as the “Harry Potter Castle” and killed five people and injured over 30.

Videos released by Ukrainian officials showed dozens of bombs exploding consecutively on the roof of the building, which was later engulfed in flames.

At least five civilians were killed and more than 30 were injured, with two children and one pregnant woman among the injured, according to CNN.

Located in Odessa, a southern port city in Ukraine, the “Harry Potter Castle” got its nickname for its gothic architectural style that resembled Hogwarts, the castle and wizarding school featured in the Harry Potter films.

The building is reportedly home to a prominent former Ukrainian MP Serhiy Kivalov, who also runs the Odesa Law Academy housed there.

In addition to the “Harry Potter Castle”, nearly 20 residential buildings and infrastructure facilities in the area were also damaged in the attack, as reported by CNN.

Russia has a history of targeting civilian and cultural sites in Ukraine, with the Kherson Art Museum saying in April that Russian forces had looted 100 paintings from its collection during their occupation of the city.

Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has been ongoing for over two years since February 2022, resulting in more than 30,000 civilian casualties and causing over 10 million people to be displaced or flee their home country.
