A series of pride celebrations took place in Hanoi, Vietnam, from Friday, Sep. 15 to Sunday, Sep. 24, marking the country’s 12th annual Hanoi Pride.
Themed “Generations of Pride”, this year’s event focused on commemorating LGBTQ milestones from the past decades and campaigning for the legalization of same-sex marriage in Vietnam.
During the week-long festivities, the LGBTQ community, rights groups and diplomats came together for activities such as exhibitions, performances, a solidarity bike ride and a Pride parade.
Although Vietnam allows symbolic same-sex unions, same-sex couples still lack legal recognition and protection, with adoption remaining exclusive to heterosexual couples.
