Take a look back at some of the biggest stories from around the world you may have missed this month.

1. A Halloween stampede in South Korea killed at least 153 people, mostly young women.

2. 33-year-old Elnaz Rekabi, an Iranian woman rock climber, competed without a hijab overseas and people are praising her bravery.

3. A man in China held a rare protest against Xi Jinping and started a movement around the world.

4. Brazil voted out its far-right president Jair Bolsonaro and elected Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, the leftist former president.

5. A gunman attacked a day care in Thailand, shooting, stabbing and killing 34 people, mostly children.

6. Same-sex marriage is now legal in all of Mexico’s states.

7. New Zealand now has more women lawmakers than men after swearing this Māori woman politician.

8. Nigeria was hit by the most catastrophic flooding in a decade leaving more than 600 people dead.
