In 2025, young people all around the world stepped up when adults fell short.
They spoke truth to power when others hesitated or looked away, led unprecedented protests for institutional change and mobilized millions of people around the world in the face of a genocide.
Here are just some of the young people who are leaving their mark in the history books for 2025.
1. Greta Thunberg
In 2025, 22-year-old Swedish activist Greta Thunberg demonstrated to the world why she remains one of the most prominent activists of our time, consistently using her platform to speak out and fight for the liberation of all.
Though she rose to prominence as a climate activist, Thunberg made clear the interconnectedness of global injustice, taking direct action and becoming one of the most outspoken voices on Palestine.
2. Muhammad Kaif
During intense fighting between India and Pakistan over Kashmir, which both countries claim full country over.
A Muslim boy from Bihar, India, went viral for shutting down a reporter trying to force him to incite violence against Pakistan with a powerful anti-war message and a level moral clarity that many adults in positions of power have failed to show.
3. Young People In Nepal
Faced with growing frustration over corruption and nepotism, Gen Z in Nepal took to the streets in masses, ultimately toppling a government and inspiring a wave of youth-led protests all around the world.
4. Pacific Islands Students Fighting Climate Change
With rising sea levels swallowing their homes, the group of students in the Pacific Islands refused to accept this fate.
Instead, they chose to spearhead a five-year campaign to take the issue of climate change to the International Court of Justice, leading to a landmark ruling that found climate change is an existential threat and countries have a duty to act to stop it.
5. Young People In Morocco
In Morocco, Gen Z turned anger over government corruption and 2030 World Cup overspending into a nationwide GenZ 212 movement, flooding the streets to demand better public services.
The protests led the government to pledge a 16% health and education budget hike and parliamentary talks on reforms.
6. Young People In Peru
In Peru, Gen Z protesters mobilized nationwide against corruption, economic instability and rising crime, driving mass protests that helped push lawmakers to impeach President Dina Boluarte, one of the most unpopular leaders in the world, and remove her from office.
7. Young People In Madagascar
In Madagascar, Gen Z organized mass protests over failing infrastructure and corruption, forcing the government to resign and the president to flee the country, marking one of Africa's first regime changes led by Gen Z in 2025.
8. Billie Eilish
The 24-year-old singer-songwriter used her platform to call out billionaires and telling them to give away their money to people in need.
She has also been outspoken about Palestine, performing at the Together for Palestine concert to raise funds for Palestinians in Gaza.
