Brazil’s President Met With Rescued Brazilian-Palestinians And Condemned Israel For “Terrorism”
“At 78 years old, I’ve seen a lot of violence. I’ve seen a lot of irrationality. But I’ve never seen such a brutal inhumane violence against innocent people.”
Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva met with rescued Brazilian-Palestinians and condemned Israel for “killing innocent people without any criteria” in the Gaza Strip, adding it is equivalent to “terrorism”.
Lula welcomed 32 Brazilian-Palestinians at Brasilia Air Base on Nov. 13 after they were safely evacuated from Gaza to Egypt on Sunday Nov. 12 and flown back to Brazil.
After greeting them, Lula said Israel’s killing of innocent women and children in its war on Hamas is “as grave” as Hamas’ attack on Israel on Oct. 7, which killed about 1,200 Israelis.
He also condemned Israel for dropping bombs where children and hospitals are on the pretext that “a terrorist is there.”
“At 78 years old, I’ve seen a lot of violence. I’ve seen a lot of irrationality. But I’ve never seen such a brutal inhumane violence against innocent people,” he said.
“If Hamas committed an act of terrorism and did what it did, then the state of Israel is also committing various acts of terrorism by not taking into account that children and women are not at war,” Lula said.
“They are not killing soldiers, they are killing children,” he added.
Israeli airstrikes and a ground offensive have killed more than 14,000 Palestinians, including more than 5,000 children, since Oct. 7.
Another 1.7 million people have lost their homes, according to the UN.
The Israeli government and Hamas finally agreed on a four-day ceasefire on Wednesday Nov. 22 on the condition that Hamas frees 50 Israeli hostages in return for Israel releasing 150 Palestinian women and children prisoners held in Israel.
