A Brazil fan at the Israel vs Mali men’s football game at the Paris Olympics was interrupted by an Israeli supporter mid-interview.
Parc des Princes in Paris hosted Israel vs Mali on Wednesday, July 24.
While the fan was giving his account of the match, he was interrupted by an Israel supporter who said not to add politics.
Talking to Finnish TV Yleurheilu, the fan begins talking about the game, saying, “I thought, in the beginning, Israel was better, but now Mali is destroying them.”
As he says this, an Israeli man hears and assumes that the man is talking about the current genocide occurring in Gaza and begins to repeat, “No politics here”.
Becoming agitated, the fan explains that he is only talking about football.
However, the Israeli supporter does not understand and continues to tell him, "No politics here."
The Brazil fan then starts chanting, “Free, free Palestine,” and does it in tune with his blowhorn from the game.
The Israeli man then starts shouting, "Fuck, fuck you" at the Brazil fan as he walks off.
Despite the game ending in a 1-1 tie, Mali was statistically the stronger side, with many more shots at goal –which was what the Brazil fan was referencing.
Cheickna Doumbia from Mali scored his respective goal, while Israel did not score a goal for themselves because Hamidou Diallo had scored an own goal.
