Palestinians In Gaza Went And Visited The Graves Of Their Families And Found That The Cemetery Has Bloomed With Flowers
A video from Palestinian journalist Hatem Hany showing the flowers spread across a cemetery went viral.
Yellow flowers have bloomed across cemeteries in Gaza, creating a moving and bittersweet scene for Palestinians visiting the graves of loved ones killed in Israel’s genocide in Gaza.
Since the genocide started more than two years ago, Israel has killed more than 73,000 Palestinians.
On March 17, a video from Palestinian journalist Hatem Hany showing the flowers spread across a cemetery went viral.
“The cemeteries bloom in Gaza,” he captioned the photo on Instagram.
The families visited the cemetery on a special day for Muslims.
They went during the last 10 days of the month of Ramadan, which is considered the most significant period during the holy month for Muslims.
During those last 10 days, there is a day called “Laylat al-Qadr’”, the date the Qur’an was revealed, this is said to be on an odd night in the Islamic calendar. The visit from the viral video would be on the 29th of Ramadan.
On March 20, on the first day of Eid al-Fitr, hundreds of Palestinians gathered at graveyards after morning prayers across Gaza, where photos showed tombstones nearly covered by knee-high bushes of yellow flowers.
