Al-Jaouni school, a UN-run school, was being used as a shelter and home to nearly 2,000 people in the Nuseirat refugee camp in Gaza.
Israel has bombed a UN school in Gaza again where Palestinian civilians where sheltering, killing at least 16 people.
On Saturday, July 6, Israel bombed Al-Jaouni school, a UN-run school, used as a shelter and home to nearly 2,000 people in the Nuseirat refugee camp in Gaza, killing at least 16 people and injuring 50 others, mostly women and children.
This has forced the more than 2,000 Palestinians sheltering in the school to be displaced again as many had come from Khan Younis, where Israel’s military had ordered them to evacuate .
This is not the first time Israel has targeted a UN school.
Earlier in June, Israel bombed another UN School also in Nuseirat, killing at least 40 people.
Israel’s military said on X, formerly Twitter, that the school “served as a hideout from which attacks (…) were carried out.”
Philippe Lazzarini, the head of UNRWA, , said he has repeatedly called for independent investigations to determine whetherthere are supposedly Hamas groups inside schools and hospitals like Israel has claimed.
The latest bombing comes as Israel and Hamas are engaged in talks for a ceasefire.
Hamas officials have said that the repeated bombing and harming of Gaza “could bring the negotiation process back to square one.”
Israel’s genocide in Gaza have killed more than 38,243 Palestinians and injured at least 88,033 others, mostly women in children, according to health authorities in Gaza.
