Israel Has Shared A Video Of It Blowing Up Another University In Gaza After Turning It Into A Military Base
Israeli forces have systematically destroyed all the universities in Gaza and killed hundreds of Palestinian teachers and thousands of students since Oct. 7, according to rights group Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor.
Israeli forces have shared a video of them blowing up Al-Israa University in Gaza after it turned the university into a military base and detention center for over two months.
Israeli media published the video showing the moment its forces detonated bombs and completely destroyed the university on Wednesday Jan. 17.
“The IOF (Israeli Occupation Forces) occupied the university building for 70 days, turning it into a military base and a centre for sniping isolated civilians in the areas of Rashid Street, Al-Mughraqa and Al-Zahra, as well as a temporary detention centre for interrogating Palestinians, before detonating it,” university officials said in a statement, according to Middle East Monitor.
University officials condemned the attack, calling it a “barbaric aggression that targeted the capabilities of students of knowledge, the latest of which was the destruction of the building of graduate studies and the main bachelor’s colleges in the south of Gaza City.”
Israeli forces have systematically destroyed all the universities in Gaza and killed hundreds of Palestinian teachers and thousands of students since Oct. 7, according to rights group Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor.
“Israel’s widespread and intentional destruction of Palestinian cultural and historical properties, including universities, schools, libraries, and archives, demonstrates its apparent policy of rendering the Gaza Strip uninhabitable,” the group said.
It added that the attacks, which include targeted strikes on academics, are “creating an environment devoid of basic services and necessities and may eventually force the Strip’s population to emigrate.”
