Netanyahu Bragged About Violating The Ceasefire And Dropping 153 Tons Of Bombs On Gaza In One Day
Netanyahu said he is committed to bringing back the dead hostages and promised to continue the war against Hamas until “all the goals of the war” are achieved, according to the Times of Israel.
Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu has boasted of dropping 153 tons of bombs on Gaza in just one day, violating the ceasefire and killing more than 97 Palestinians since the ceasefire began.
On Sunday, Oct. 19, Israel launched several attacks on Rafah, southern Gaza, as well as in Gaza City and central Gaza.
Israeli forces claimed that the attacks were in response to “terrorists” firing an anti-tank missile and gunfire toward its troops in Rafah.
Netanyahu said he had ordered the military to respond forcefully to what he described as Hamas' violations of the ceasefire, according to Reuters.
Hamas has said it is committed to the ceasefire deal, adding that it is not aware of any clashes in Rafah as it is in a red zone area that is still under Israeli control, and that it has no communication with its forces in the area.
Israel has violated the ceasefire 80 times, including 21 times on Sunday alone, killing more than 97 people and injuring more than 230 others since the ceasefire began on Oct. 10, according to Gaza’s media office.
On Monday, Oct. 20, Netanyahu addressed the Israeli parliament, the Knesset, and bragged about dropping 153 tons of bombs on Gaza on Sunday.
He claimed the Hamas attacked Israeli soldiers, killing two and that Israel’s attack was in retaliation.
He also criticized the opposition for trying to call for an end to Israel’s genocide in Gaza, saying if he had listened to them, Israel would have “gone up in nuclear smoke”.
Netanyahu said that he is committed to bringing back the dead hostages and promised to continue the war against Hamas until “all the goals of the war” are achieved, according to the Times of Israel.
Hamas is in the process of returning the bodies of the last 15 hostages as of Oct. 21, but some have been difficult to locate due to the level of destruction Israel has left in Gaza, according to AP.
Since Oct. 7, 2023, Israel’s genocide in Gaza has killed more than 68,229 Palestinians, mostly women and children.
