Did you know that North Korea has allegedly sent 3,000 soldiers to fight for Russia?
On Wednesday Oct. 23, the US national security spokesperson told reporters that evidence showed North Korea had moved troops to military training sites in eastern Russia between early to mid-October.
The US said it is uncertain whether North Korean soldiers will fight alongside the Russian military, but US officials said it is a “highly concerning probability”.
South Korean national intelligence also reported that North Korea had promised Russia 10,000 soldiers by the end of December.
But Russian officials have denied the allegations, claiming it was “fake news”.
International authorities say if the reports are true, it could “mark a significant escalation” in the war between Russia and Ukraine.
On Tuesday, Oct. 22, South Korea warned it would send weapons to Ukraine if North Korea continues sending troops to Russia.
Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022, and the war has since killed more than 10,000 civilians, with estimates saying that number may be much higher.
