Paris Held A "Waiter Race" Where Waiters Had To Dash Through The City With A Coffee And Croissant

Paris has revived the Course des Cafés, a century-old tradition known as the Paris waiters’ race.

More than 200 waiters from cafes across Paris took part in the iconic event in their full uniforms to compete for glory.

Waiters have to walk a two-kilometer loop around the Paris city hall while carrying a tray with a cup of coffee, a croissant and a glass of water.

They must hold the tray with one hand without spilling the beverages and cannot run.

The winner received a luxurious hotel stay and tickets to the Paris Olympics.

First held in 1914, the race celebrates the “know-how and skill of waiters”.

It had been paused since 2011 due to budget issue but was revived in march 2024 ahead of the Paris Olympics.
