Police told local media that the 31-year-old fell off his electric scooter while intoxicated in Seoul.

They said they had found Suga lying on the ground.

He was questioned and later detained at the police station in Seoul.

“Although there were no victims or damaged facilities in this process, it is entirely my responsibility without any excuse, and I sincerely apologize to everyone,” Suga said. “I fell while parking the kick scooter in front of my house and had my license revoked and was fined”

The electric scooter he claimed to be driving was also not a conventional one but one with an electrical scooter with a seat — making it illegal to drive while intoxicated.

Under Korean law, people should not drive if their blood-alcohol concentration is over 0.05%.

However, according to local police, Suga drove while his blood-alcohol concentration was nearly 8 times higher than the legal limit.

Suga’s label, Big Hit Music, also apologized on his behalf, stating that “he will receive appropriate disciplinary action from his workplace for causing public disturbance.” The label added it would “take greater care to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.”

Suga is currently serving mandatory military service in South Korea, where all able men between the ages of 18 and 35 must serve at least 18 months. His duty as a social service agent is scheduled to end in June 2025. Of the seven BTS members, only Jin has completed his military service.
