After Violence In Syria Killed Over 1,000 People, Syria’s President Said All Those Responsible Will Be Punished
“No one will be above the law, and everyone whose hands are stained with the blood of Syrians will face justice sooner rather than later,” Ahmed al-Sharaa said.

Following the worst violence in Syria since its liberation, interim Syrian president Ahmed Al-Sharaa has said everyone responsible for killing civilians will be punished “with firmness and without leniency”.
On March 6, gunmen loyal to the former Assad regime ambushed government security forces in Latakia and Tartous near the coast, attacking security patrols and checkpoints and killing security personnel.
The clashes between the government forces and the former regime gunmen then killed more than 1,018 people, including 745 civilians, 148 pro-Assad gunmen and 125 members of government forces in just a few days, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
Sharaa said in a statement on Sunday, March 9 that the government will hold accountable those responsible for the bloodshed of the Syrian people.
“No one will be above the law, and everyone whose hands are stained with the blood of Syrians will face justice sooner rather than later,” Sharaa said.
He also announced the government was forming a committee to investigate the violence that occurred in the coastal regions and find those responsible for it.
“Syria will remain steadfast, and we will not allow any foreign powers or local parties to drag it into chaos or civil war. We remain committed and determined to move forward toward a future worthy of our great people.” Sharaa said.
On Monday, March 10, the Syrian defense ministry said it “neutralized” the Assad loyalists and were "paving the way for life to return to normal", a ministry spokesman said, the BBC reported.
