Trump Used A Translator To Translate English To English During A Meeting With India’s Prime Minister

US president Donald Trump used a translator to translate English to English during a meeting with Indian prime minister Narendra Modi.

During the meeting on Friday, Feb. 14, a reporter with an Indian accent asked Trump in English about the US’ role in Bangladesh’s regime change during the Biden administration.

However, Trump had to have a translator repeating the question back to him, also in English, before he could answer it.

Earlier during a press conference with Modi on Thursday, Feb. 13, Trump also dismissed another reporter's question, which was asked to him in English, due to his accent.

“People in India will naturally welcome your decision to extradite Tahawwur Rana to India back home. In that context, I’d like to ask you a question about, in the last few years, we have seen several groups in the US raising anti-India voice, calling about separation, terrorism activities in India. Do you think that should continue here in the US as well?”, the reporter had asked.

Trump then replied, “You will have to go louder.”

The reporter then began asking the question again, before Trump cut him off and said, “I can’t understand a word he’s saying.”

Trump faced a similar incident during a press conference with Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Feb. 4, when Afghan woman journalist Nazira Karimi asked him a question.

“Do you have any plan to change Afghanistan’s situation? Are you able to recognize the Taliban, because I’m an Afghan journalist,” Karimi had asked.

Trump then said he was having a hard time understanding her and asked her about where she is from.

He then said “It’s a beautiful voice and a beautiful accent,” adding “the only problem is I can’t understand a word you’re saying. But, but I just say this. Good luck, live in peace.”
