Trump Shared A Video Of The US Bombing Yemen’s Houthis But It Was Reportedly Civilians Celebrating Eid
A Houthi-linked media outlet said the people in the video weren’t connected to the group, and that it had been a traditional Yemeni tribal gathering.

US president Donald Trump shared a video on social media showing American airstrikes targeting Yemen's Houthi rebels, but reports suggest the strikes may have actually hit civilians instead.
On Saturday, April 5, Trump posted a video on X showing a missile strike hitting a group of people standing in a circle, causing a massive explosion and leaving a deep hole in the ground.
“These Houthis gathered for instructions on an attack. Oops, there will be no attack by these Houthis! They will never sink our ships again!” he wrote on X.
However, a Houthi-linked media outlet said the people in the video weren’t connected to the group, and that it had been a traditional Yemeni tribal gathering.
The Yemen News agency SABA said the bombing targeted a “social Eid visit in Hodeida governorate,” according to AP.
The Houthis said at least four people were killed and 16 others injured in the attack, but Trump’s video suggested the number could be much higher.
For more than three weeks, the US has been continuously bombing Yemen almost daily in response to the Houthis targeting Israeli-linked ships in the Red Sea.
The Houthis had announced it is resuming attacks on Israeli ships on March 12 due to Israel blocking all aid deliveries to Gaza and unilaterally ending the ceasefire.
Before the ceasefire in January, the Houthis had been targeting Israeli ships to support Palestinians in Gaza and to pressure Israel to end its genocide, which has killed more than 50,000 Palestinians, mostly women and children.
Since its first airstrikes on March 15, the US has carried out over 200 airstrikes in Yemen, according to the White House.
The US airstrikes have killed at least 73 people in Yemen, according to Houthi figures.
