Florence Mudzingwa, a disability rights activist from Zimbabwe, was fortunate to grow up in a supportive family that encouraged her to take on leadership roles.

However, not all women with disabilities have that same support, which inspired Mudzingwa to start the Hope Resurrect Trust. Her goal is to uplift women and girls with physical disabilities by helping them build confidence, self-esteem and the tools they need for personal and economic growth.

In an interview with Almost at the Women Deliver 2026 conference in Melbourne, Australia, Mudzingwa opens up about the biggest misconception people have about people with disabilities and shares how we can all become better allies.
