Israel Killed Five Journalists At Once While They Were Reporting In Gaza, Claiming They Were Islamic Jihadists
The journalists killed were identified as Fadi Hassouna, Ibrahim al-Sheikh Ali, Mohammed al-Ladah, Faisal Abu al-Qumsan, and Ayman al-Jadi.
Israel bombed and killed five Palestinian journalists in Gaza in their car in the vicinity of a hospital.
The five journalists from the al-Quds Today channel were covering events near al-Awda Hospital when an Israeli airstrike hit their broadcasting vehicle while it was parked outside the hospital in the early hours of Thursday, Dec. 26.
The vehicle was clearly marked as a “Press” vehicle andwas engulfed in flames shortly after the strike.
The journalists killed were identified as Fadi Hassouna, Ibrahim al-Sheikh Ali, Mohammed al-Ladah, Faisal Abu al-Qumsan, and Ayman al-Jadi.
Ayman al-Jadi had been waiting outside the hospital for his wife who was in labor, according to Al Jazeera.
Jadi got married during Israel's genocide in Gaza and was expecting his first child but was killed before meeting it.
Israeli forces said they had conducted a “precise strike” on a vehicle in the area of Nuseirat and claimed that the journalists were “Islamic Jihad operatives posing as journalists.”
Al Quds Today said in a statement that the five journalists were killed “while performing their journalistic and humanitarian duty,” adding that Israel is committing crimes against journalists in addition to its genocide in Gaza.
Palestinian journalists held a vigil at Al-Ahli Hospital in honor of the five journalists and condemned Israel's crimes against journalists in Gaza.
Since Oct. 7, 2023, Israel has killed at least 201 journalists in Gaza, according to Gaza’s media office.
