Israel has bombed multiple places across Gaza, including a funeral, killing more than 14 Palestinians and injuring at least 22 others.

On Friday, July 17, an Israeli strike hit a funeral in Deir al-Balah, where Palestinians had gathered to mourn a Palestinian who had been killed in an earlier Israeli airstrike that same day, according to AP.

The strike killed eight people who were attending the funeral and injured at least 20 others, according to Awda Hospital.

The Israeli military said it had been targeting members of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ), an armed group allied with Hamas, and acknowledged that civilians may have been harmed.

It said the incident was under review.

The strike came after another Israeli attack earlier that day killed two Palestinians in the same area, including the person whose funeral mourners had gathered to attend, according to Reuters.

Separate Israeli airstrikes killed at least four more Palestinians, including two women, bringing the total of Palestinians killed in Gaza on Friday to 14, according to Palestinian health officials.

Israel’s attacks on Gaza have been increasing lately despite the “ceasefire,” with Israel carrying out regular airstrikes across Gaza, saying it is targeting members of Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad.

Conflict monitor ACLED, a US-based research group that tracks political violence, said Israeli strikes on Gaza rose to more than 40 strikes in June — the highest monthly total since the truce took hold.

According to Gaza's Health Ministry, Israel has violated the “ceasefire” more than 3,689 times, killing at least 1,127 Palestinians since it came into effect on Oct. 10.
