Israel Has Bombed Two Hospitals In Gaza Just Hours Apart, Claiming It Was Targeting Hamas

Israel has bombed two hospitals in Gaza just hours apart, claiming it's targeting Hamas members and killing more than 30 people.

On Tuesday, May 13, Israel dropped six bombs on the European Hospital in Khan Younis, southern Gaza, killing 28 people and injuring many others, including a BBC journalist, claiming it was attacking a Hamas command center underneath the hospital.

The severity of the attack left bodies scattered around the hospital and several deep craters inside the hospital compound, burying several vehicles, including part of a large bus.

Israeli officials said that Israel bombed Khan Younis to kill one of Hamas’ top leaders, Mohammed Sinwar, the younger brother of Yahya Sinwar, whom Israel killed in October 2024.

Earlier the same day, Israel also launched a "targeted attack" on the Nasser Medical Complex, killing two people, including Palestinian photojournalist Hassan Eslaih, who was recovering from injuries due to Israel’s previous attack on a journalists’ tent, killing three and critically injuring at least eight others.

The strike injured several others and damaged hospital infrastructure, including the burn unit and surgical beds.

Israel has accused Eslaih before of being a member of Hamas and that it will “continue to operate to remove any threat to the State of Israel.”

Israel has completely destroyed 38 hospitals in Gaza since Oct. 7, 2023.

On May 5, Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that Israel is going to fully take over Gaza, intensifying its military operations across the Strip, indefinitely occupying parts of Gaza, forcibly moving Palestinians to the south and would be monitoring aid distribution in Gaza, which it has been completely blocking since March 2.
