Israel’s Military Shot And Killed This Seven-Month-Old Palestinian Baby In The West Bank

Israel’s military shot and killed a seven-month-old Palestinian baby after shooting into his family’s car in the occupied West Bank.
Sam Fahd Abu Haikal was in a car with his parents, his 11-year-old brother and his grandmother Ferial, as his father Fahd Abu Haikal drove from Bethlehem to the Tel Rumeida area of Hebron on the evening of Friday, June 5, to take Ferial to her home, according to Al Jazeera.
As the family approached Tel Rumeida, a Hebron neighborhood containing a large Israeli settlement where Ferial lives, a group of soldiers appeared out of the darkness and a soldier signaled them to stop the car, Al Jazeera reported.
Fahd said he brought the car to a complete stop at the soldiers’ order and proceeded to raise his arms up to show that they were not a threat when the military started shooting at their car.
"The soldier saw me, saw my wife and the kids," Fahd said, according to AP. “The windows were not tinted; it was broad daylight and everything was clear. You can’t say he didn’t see that it was a family.”
One bullet passed through the front windshield of the car, striking Fahd’s right hand.
After exiting Fahd’s hand, the same bullet hit Sam, who was being held by his mother Dania Salameh, in the head and killed him instantly.
The bullet then grazed Salameh’s jaw and was lodged in her chest.
Salameh was then taken to the hospital in critical condition and doctors later said that they couldn’t remove the shrapnel because the fragment was too close to her heart, according to Al Jazeera.
Israel's military said soldiers believed the car was accelerating toward them and responded with single shots.
It later said an initial inquiry found those shot were "uninvolved civilians" and said the incident was under investigation.
Fahd said the soldiers responsible should be brought to justice, adding that he intends to file a legal case against the soldier who killed his son.
