In August 2025, authorities charged him with 40 criminal offenses, including four counts of rape, domestic violence, drug-related crimes, violations of restraining orders and traffic offenses, reportedly between 2018 and 2024.

The court found that the women involved in the rape cases were unable to consent, as they were “too unconscious or too incapacitated to resist.”

In what became one of the trial’s most closely watched moments, one woman told the court that during an alleged assault, “He just wouldn’t stop.”

The only victim publicly named in the case was Høiby’ ex-girlfriend Nora Haukland, whom he allegedly physically abused repeatedly between 2022 and 2023, including hitting her in the face, choking and kicking her.

During the trial, Høiby denied all four rape allegations and the domestic abuse charges, but admitted to several of the lesser offenses, including a drug-related offense and causing physical harm to Haukland.

He told the court the intense scrutiny had "erased him as a person."

On Monday, June 15, after a seven-week trial, an Oslo court found Høiby guilty of two counts of rape, including one in the basement of the crown prince's home, domestic abuse and several other offenses and sentenced him to four years in prison.

The court also ordered him to pay compensation to Haukland and three other women, and issued a two-year restraining order protecting one of the victims.

The verdict comes months after Norway’s royal family faced separate scrutiny over newly released Jeffrey Epstein documents that revealed Mette-Marit herself had maintained contact with the convicted sex offender between 2011 and 2014, years after his 2008 conviction for sex crimes involving minors.
