Israel blow up houses bridges southern Lebanon ceasefire

Israel's military has been releasing multiple videos showing Israel detonating houses and entire villages in southern Lebanon despite the “ceasefire.”

Israel and Lebanon agreed to a 10-day ceasefire on April 16, which was extended by three weeks.

However, Israel has been releasing videos of it blowing up houses and reducing entire neighborhoods in southern Lebanon to rubble, claiming it is targeting Hezbollah infrastructure.

Israeli forces have destroyed more than 62,000 homes across southern Lebanon since March 2026, according to Lebanese officials, as the military carries out controlled demolitions in the 55 towns and villages it now occupies under the so-called “yellow line,” an imaginary border roughly 10 kilometres inside southern Lebanon that is now occupied by Israel.

Israel’s military said it is destroying Hezbollah infrastructure and creating a buffer zone to prevent future attacks on northern Israel.

Satellite analysis by a researcher at Oregon State University's Conflict Ecology laboratory revealed that previously damaged areas in Lebanon are now being completely leveled, with “large swaths of towns, villages being effectively wiped off the map” in a pattern that mirrors Israel’s genocide in Gaza, according to NPR.

A visual investigation by Al Jazeera documented 14 distinct videos published by Israeli soldiers and journalists between April 16 and 24, and found that 13 out of 14 incidents occurred within the Nabatieh governorate.

Half of those were focused on the towns of Bint Jbeil, Beit Lif and Ainata.

In Bint Jbeil alone, more than 1,500 buildings were destroyed, including a 400-year-old mosque.

Bint Jbeil Mayor told Al Jazeera that more than 70% of the city has been destroyed and that demolitions continued even after a ceasefire announcement in April.

Israeli defense minister Israel Katz said the fate of southern Lebanon “will be the same as that of Gaza,” according to NPR.
