Iran Has Sentenced This Iranian Singer To 74 Lashes For Performing Without A Hijab
The court said they shared "vulgar and immoral content" online.
Iran has sentenced Iranian singer Parastoo Ahmadi to 74 lashes after she had performed without a hijab.
In Iran, all women and girls from age nine are required to wear a headscarf.
Ahmadi had performed without a hijab in a virtual concert in December 2024 and was detained after the performance video went viral online.
After public outrage grew over her arrest, 29-year-old Ahmadi was released the next day.
She and 8 crew members were sentenced to 74 lashes in June 2026.
The court said they shared "vulgar and immoral content" online, they were also banned from traveling and artistic activities for 2 years.
In 2024, Iran paused an even stricter hijab law due to global criticism.
