The US And Iran Have Finally Agreed To A Deal To End Their War, Including In Lebanon, After Over Three Months
The peace agreement extends Iran and the US' previous ceasefire by another 60 days and initiates nuclear negotiations between the two countries.
The US and Iran have agreed to an interim deal that would end more than three months of war between them, as well as Israel’s war on Lebanon.
Late on Sunday, June 14, Pakistani prime minister Shebhaz Sharif wrote on X that a peace deal between the US and Iran "has been REACHED."
US president Donald Trump later also confirmed in a post on his Truth Social platform, saying, “the Deal with the Islamic Republic of Iran is now complete. Congratulations to all!”
“I hereby fully authorize the toll free opening of the Strait of Hormuz, and, simultaneously herewith, authorize the immediate removal of the United States Naval blockade,” he wrote. “Ships of the World, start your engines. Let the oil flow!”
Iran’s Supreme National Security Council also confirmed on Monday, June 15 the country agreed to the interim deal, which includes immediate suspension of hostilities on all fronts, including in Lebanon.

According to the Iranian news agency Mehr, the agreement contains 14 points: a permanent and immediate cessation of hostilities on all fronts, including in Lebanon, reopening the Strait of Hormuz within 30 days, with Iran clearing any naval mines, while the US lifts its naval blockade.
Iran has reportedly committed not to pursue nuclear weapons, with initial negotiations covering disposing of highly enriched uranium and managing enrichment activities to reach a final agreement on nuclear issues during the 60-day negotiation period.
The US would also gradually suspend its sanctions on Iran, allowing it to sell oil without restrictions, lift its blockade on Iranian ports and discuss the release of US$24 billion in frozen Iranian assets.
Neither government has released the text of the agreement, but a formal signing is expected to take place on Friday, June 19, in Switzerland.
However, Israel was not part of the negotiations, and it is not clear if it will stop its attacks on Lebanon.
After the deal announcement, Israel’s defense minister Israel Katz said that Israel will not withdraw from land seized in Lebanon, adding that Israel plans to stay “indefinitely” in lands it holds in Lebanon, as well as Syria and Gaza.
Meanwhile, global oil prices fell immediately after the deal announcement.
